This dynamic webinar lead by Lea Boriskin, LCSW, is designed to empower every therapist to effectively engage with families. It will first explore why mastering family therapy methods is essential for comprehensive clinical practice, even in a variety of specialties. Participants will gain a practical understanding of various core methods and techniques used in family therapy, providing actionable tools for immediate application. We will also focus on building clinical confidence, offering strategies and insights to help therapists feel comfortable and competent when shifting from individual to family sessions. This course will also offer a review of foundational knowledge to help facilitate change within the family unit.

 

Lea Boriskin combines over 20 years of experience with psychology and education. She founded Proactive Counseling LCSW in Long Island, NY, where she is currently treating patients across a broad spectrum of backgrounds and ages; the majority of work surrounding mild to severe anxiety and depression. Prior to this, Lea’s experience encompasses a variety of settings, including mental health clinics, day treatment, social skills programs, juvenile rehabilitation program, hospitals and after school programs. Lea utilizes psychoeducation to help patients build coping skills and reduce dependence on psychotropic medication. Treatment incorporates multiple theories with training from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Developmental Model of Couples Therapy and Psychodynamic theory. She authored Relationships Made Possible, a workbook compiling exercises and quick references to connect patients of all ages to themselves and others.
