In this unique webinar, CE You!’s Elizabeth Weintraub talks with film and theater critic, former news reporter and National Public Radio talk show panelist, Jane Horwitz about the impact of media on the lives of Americans. This conversation will provide practitioners with an overview of how the various forms of media can impact a client’s self-image and social expectations. As clinicians and mental health professionals trained to promote self-determination for our clients, it is important to help clients recognize if and when media messages set forth values and ideals, and effectively examine whether those ideals are consistent with a client’s needs and goals.

Trainer, Elizabeth Weintraub, LMSW, is the Director of CE You! New York Area Programing. Jane Horwitz appears as a theater reviewer in Washington, D.C. on PBS affiliate WETA’s “Around Town” arts segments. Jane wrote the “Backstage” column for The Washington Post. Her column “The Family Filmgoer” ran in The Washington Post Weekend section for 23 years. Horwitz was heard on National Public Radio affiliate WETA FM in a weekly segment called “Talking Pictures,” which ran for six years, she designed and authored “The Family Filmgoer” column for The Washington Post Style section, which served as a guide to parents navigating the entertainment world regarding suitability for children of varying ages.
