In this new webinar, Joseph Goldfield, LCSW, introduces the “Defense Attorney” Technique, a structured, six-step approach for challenging a client’s troubling, irrational thoughts. Participants will learn how to screen clients to determine if they are likely to benefit from the technique and will be able to clearly state and apply the steps of the model. Furthermore, the course will guide participants on how to seamlessly integrate this method into their current therapeutic practice, offering discussions on varying the implementation of the technique based on the client’s unique clinical presentation.

 

Joseph Goldfield, LCSW-R, graduated from U.C. Berkeley School of Social Work in 1986 and has been working in private practice, mental health clinics, and EAP settings ever since. He has found the creative challenges presented by short-term therapy helpful in developing out of the box approaches in the service of his clients. He draws eclectically from his training in Ericksonian Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Narrative Therapy, Stress Management, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to develop counseling interventions that help those seeking therapy grow in their ability to apply their unique strengths to their difficulties. He enjoys sharing his eclectic, creative approach to therapy through presentations and publishing articles in journals and clinical compendiums. He has served on the faculty of the Fordham University School of Social Work and maintains a successful private practice in NYC.
