Do you ever feel like some clients are presenting a puzzle with missing pieces? Traditional approaches might not be enough for those struggling with intense emotions, flashbacks, or avoidance behaviors. This could be a sign of underlying trauma. Led by professional counselor and clinical supervisor Jodi Geis-Crowder , this webinar is designed for busy mental health professionals seeking to elevate their practice skills and become leaders in trauma-informed care. We’ll review recognition of trauma as well as delve deeper to enhance assessment techniques which help to identify the often-subtle presentations of trauma in clients. We’ll discover how cultural beliefs profoundly influence responses to trauma, and discuss effective treatment modalities. Macro practice will also be addressed, exploring ways to become change agents within our systems, identifying and advocating against retraumatizing policies, fostering collaboration with colleagues to build a robust support network for clients and communities. We will also focus on solutions and envisioning a life absent of trauma responses.

 

Jodi Ann Geis-Crowder is a dedicated professional with 27 years of experience in ensuring
access to quality behavioral health care and substance use disorder services in rural areas of
Northeast Colorado and Wyoming. She holds an Associate Degree in Education, a Bachelor’s
Degree in Social Sciences, and a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis in
Leadership from the University of Wyoming. Jodi also holds professional counseling licenses in
Colorado and Wyoming, substitute teaching licenses in Colorado and Wyoming, is an Approved
Clinical Supervisor through the Center for Credentialing and Education, recognized by the
National Board of Certified Counselors, and is a professional coach through Co-Creative
Leadership: Human Capital Coach Training Alliance. Jodi pioneered animal-assisted therapy
and therapeutic horticulture programs at Centennial Mental Health Center in Colorado and Peak
Wellness Center in Wyoming, reflecting her commitment to culturally meaningful care in rural
settings. She has held various leadership roles, including program manager in a psychosocial
rehabilitation program, clinical supervisor, and regional clinical director. She has expertise in
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), telehealth clinical supervision, telehealth service
delivery, and professional webinar education. Jodi currently serves as a clinical supervisor and
professional trainer for Volunteers of America Northern Rockies and offers webinars,
professional training, consultation, coaching, and professional speaking through JGC
Enterprises, LLC. Her areas of training focus include: Ethics, SFBT, Clinical Supervision,
Telehealth, Trauma Informed Care, The Polyvagal Theory, and the Human/Animal Bond.
Passionate about art, Jodi is a professional watercolor artist and photographer, selling her work in
Wyoming as a member of the Sagebrush Artisans.
