Join clinical social worker Alexis Cate as we study the characteristics and connections surrounding Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Participants will gain insight around the intersectionality of PTS and BPD, explore action steps to help mitigate the stigma of BPD in clinical work, and consider treatment approaches to build competencies in treatment co-occurring PTS and BPD.
Alexis Cate, LCSW, CCTP, CASAC is a Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional based in New York City. Alexis is currently a Clinical Social Worker with the Montefiore Medical Center School Health Program in the Bronx, NY. She provides direct clinical care to adolescents in a Bronx middle school. Alexis completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Wagner College and went on to earn her Master of Social Work Degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She has experience working with all age groups treating a variety of psychosocial concerns including: depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, substance misuse, trauma, personality disorders, pervasive mental health disorders, suicidality, self-harm, community violence, and domestic/family violence. A compassionate and highly motivated self-starter, Alexis has a strong desire to empower the individuals and families with whom she works. She believes in the importance of holistic health, highlighting the mind-body connection, the practice of mindfulness, and enhancing clinical care by comprehensively understanding each client’s unique clinical needs within and outside the therapeutic experience.
