From invitations to the prom, to sports team try-outs, to school applications, to the notorious theatre auditions… the prospect of Rejection can permeate multiple aspects of daily life, and moreover, the fear of Rejection can hinder our abilities to realize our true potential.
Social Psychologist and Neuroscientist David Chester, PhD shares his original research and fascinating insights surrounding the human reaction to Rejection, and what we can do about it!
We’ll explore the activation of the body’s pain center and physiological response elicited by personal rejection, (or the perception of rejection), short-term and long-term behavioral and social outcomes, both positive and negative, associated with the experience of rejection, as well as tools and interventions for leveraging the eye-opening capacity of rejection as a positive catalyst for building stronger relationships and human connections.
This webinar is a companion course with Dr. Chester’s corresponding presentation, “A Dish Best Served Cold: Exploring the Real Science and Psychology Behind ‘Sweet’ Revenge”. Please consult the full schedule to enjoy both sessions!

David Chester, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. His research seeks to understand the psychological and neurobiological factors that cause and constrain aggressive behavior.
