Join Ronnie Sonnenberg, MSW, LCSW along the fascinating journey of gender differences. Participants will examine the role of expectations vs acceptance in couples work, communication tools to promote understanding between couples, and the ethical considerations including the important recognition of countertransference, as well as gender based cultural and social mindfulness for practitioners within the therapeutic setting.

 

Ronnie has been working in the mental health field for over 40 years. After graduation from Ohio State University with a Masters in Clinical Social Work, she joined Franklin County Children Services in Columbus, Ohio. After returning to Long Island, Ronnie proceeded into private practice in Hauppauge, NY. Ronnie has appeared on television in Life Through A Womens Eye (Telecare) and hosted a local radio program focusing on gender differences and how they affect relationships. Ronnie has also been seen on local news programs regarding her workshops focusing on gender differences. During Ronnie’s last ten years in practice she has developed a series of 4 session workshops to delve into gender differences, understand them, and show how we can develop healthier functioning relationships, furthering Ronnie’s goal of lowering divorce rates. Ronnie has also worked with the state legislature to help create a bill to mandate a course for couples seeking divorce. The Marriage Preservation Bill, is presently sitting in committee. Ronnie maintains her private practice in Huntington, NY and is finalizing her first novel!
