Alexa had the unique opportunity to be the first intern in Staten Island’s first male offender program. She began as a direct support professional working with what was considered to be “difficult” cases. She practices very individualistic and personalized planning to assist people with disabilities to enhance their skills and achieve their goals. Alexa lives by the phrase “be the change you want to see in the world”. Although she knows that she cannot change the world overnight she is determined to change lives one person at a time. Alexa is committed to cultivating a positive learning experience and empowering environment for people with disabilities throughout the spectrum. She is always looking for creative and innovative ways to create lasting inclusive relationships to build supportive environments. She is determined to help others get a fair chance by opening her mind to learning and understanding what supports someone may need and what barriers they may face to achieving their goals.
Nicole DelPrete, LMSW, is a social work leader and educator with more than a decade of experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and strengthening community-based services. She has built a career spanning direct support, case management, community engagement, and program development, giving her a well-rounded perspective on how high-quality services are designed and delivered. In her current senior leadership role at PCCS, she helps guide initiatives that promote inclusion, responsive programming, and strong partnerships across the community. A proud graduate of the College of Staten Island, Nicole earned her MSW and remains connected to the next generation of practitioners as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Social Work Department. Her work is grounded in macro social work and in bridging micro and macro practice, helping teams translate day-to-day client needs into sustainable systems and policies. Nicole is known for a strengths-based, collaborative approach that prioritizes leadership development, team building, and trust-centered relationships. She is passionate about creative problem-solving, community inclusion, and advancing equitable opportunities for people.
