This practical 2-hour training by Suzette Bray, LMFT gives clinicians DBT-informed strategies for helping clients navigate periods of acute emotional distress without making the situation worse. Participants will learn concrete distress-tolerance strategies, explore common barriers that interfere with skill use during high-arousal states, and consider how emotional avoidance can maintain distress. The training is designed to give clinicians practical tools that can be integrated into a wide range of therapeutic approaches.

 

Suzette Bray, LMFT, is a psychotherapist, author, consultant, and trainer specializing in DBT-informed treatment, emotion dysregulation, trauma, and complex clinical presentations. With more than 20 years of clinical experience, she is known for translating evidence-based approaches into practical, accessible strategies clinicians can use in real-world settings. She is the author of several books on DBT, emotion regulation, and borderline personality disorder.
