Chaya Greenspan MS, OTR/L brings participants a new perspective on the profound impact of our senses. This interactive webinar will discuss sensory integration & interoception in relation to coping skills, body based strategies for shifting the body-brain state, as well as theory surrounding the sensation shifting pendulum. Chaya has taught numerous courses on self-regulation, using physical, cognitive, and social tools, and helps families and schools set up sensory supportive environments.
Chaya Greenspan MS, OTR/L, is an eclectic and holistic pediatric occupational therapist, practicing in the field of pediatrics for over twenty years and as an occupational therapist for over fifteen years. A graduate of Columbia University, she has enjoyed a career filled with a diverse caseload in academic, medical, home, and private settings. Chaya also serves as educator and supervisor to therapists, graduate students and parents. She works with children spanning ages newborn to twenty-one years, struggling with severe to minor congenital or neurological disorders, as well as visual or auditory impairments, emotional or learning disabilities, autism spectrum or motor coordination. Chaya continuously acquires certifications in diverse treatment approaches, Howard Glasser’s NHA, Star Institute’s advance certification in SPD, and currently bio-feedback. Over the past decade, Chaya has taught numerous courses on self-regulation, using physical, cognitive, and social tools. She has helped families and schools set up sensory supportive environments to help with coping throughout the day.
Chaya established her company, Work n Play to support children using a whole family and whole body approach to change. Through her private practice, she has striven to remove barriers to play, skill acquisition, and relationships using classic and holistic approaches to intervention, from sensory integration to active meditation. She has spearheaded initiatives to promote meaningful activities and social-emotional opportunities for children of all abilities by teaching families the art of adapting and creating toys and games through an organization she founded called Play Depot. Chaya has spent the last five years supervising, training, and creating for a therapeutic and educational gaming company using virtual reality to bring creative interventions to children struggling with either physical and/or emotional impediments using movement and expressive arts. She is now working on bringing all of her professional activities into systems that others can reproduce in the form of body-brain solutions for regulatory needs, such as behavior modification, attention modulation, and emotional processing. All these initiatives target natural play, universal spirit, and child development to support all children in their pursuit of growth and meaning.
