10:00am- 1:00pm Class 1 – What is Bipolar Really?
Learn what Bipolar is and isn’t. Through videos of individuals experiencing both mania and depression associated with Bipolar, you will leave this session with a clear understanding of the disorder. This workshop will provide an overview of the DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria for Bipolar disorders, including Bipolar I and Bipolar II. Attention will be paid to the differentiation of Bipolar I and II and the function of anti-depressants, such as SSRIs and SNRIs, in the treatment of depressive symptoms. Common Myths regarding Bipolar Disorder will be discussed, and challenged. The often under-identified serotonin-syndrome will be discussed as well. (Trainer Justin Griepentrog, LGSW, Director Compassionate Grace Counseling Center )
“Do you have children?”, “Are you married?”, “Will you be my friend on Facebook?” Boundary issues with clients and ethical considerations have only become more complicated in recent years. With the extent of personal information that is available on the internet, clinicians need to be cautious about what information is available to their clients. Participants will evaluate appropriate uses of self disclosure by viewing examples of therapy sessions from popular movies and television. Participants will become knowledgeable of the 10 things clinicians need to know about privacy on the internet and how to protect themselves. This information will assist clinicians in making ethical decisions related to self disclosure. (Trainer, Annie Sutton, LCSW-C)
Full Seminars consist of two trainings totaling 6 CEUs and costing $99. Participants can attend an individual class for $59. Refreshments are served through out the day.
Agencies sending 3 or more staff members only pay $89 per person for the full seminar.
