Journaling is an active form of meditation. It can serve as a powerful release valve for internalized pressure and everyday stress. Delve into the transformative journey of the journal with Jennifer Convissor, LCSW.
Participants will enjoy an overview of four specific types of journaling techniques and their corresponding therapeutic properties, helping clients to become more joyful and connected to themselves and others.
This course will also explore the primary physical and psychological benefits of the “process journal”, the crucial role of self-compassion in developing a benevolent observant ego, (referred to as the internalization of the “good coach”) to maintain motivation for a journaling practice, as well as actionable techniques for fostering permanent habits of self-care for clients between sessions and after termination. Much like adding memory to a computer with multiple programs and software running at once, learn how this evidence-based therapeutic channel offers fast and effective relief from mental and emotional overwhelm by enhancing the “processing power” of the mind and consciousness.

Jennifer Convissor’s holistic practice has its roots in spiritual practice, creative arts and environmental activism. Her specialty is helping draw connections between past and present to; identify patterns, disarm triggers and relocate an essential sense of peace. While earning her bachelor’s degree (BA) from Sarah Lawrence College, she concentrated on psychology, both individual and cultural. Jennifer’s graduate work focused on clinical practice with children and families and she earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Fordham University. Professionally, her experience includes group-work with every age group from school-aged children to senior citizens, community organizing, crisis intervention, as well as individual and family counseling. Jennifer currently specializes in helping people who are experiencing stress due to transitions in their lives, i.e. college students, adolescents, or adults in career or family transition. She is the creator of the Infinity Wellness method of personal assessment and The Transformative Journal course. She ran the mental health department for Shames JCC on the Hudson, where she served as parenting coach, referral specialist clinical supervisor and provided professional development to early childhood teachers and counselors. Jennifer is also a mother of two and a singer-songwriter in her spare time.
