Join Christina Muller, LCSW as we delve into the concept of Matrescence, a lifelong psychological and emotional journey. We’ll move beyond the traditional focus on pregnancy and childbirth to explore the rich tapestry of Matrescence, examining its multifaceted nature through the lens of diverse cultural contexts. This session is designed to equip social workers and mental health professionals to better examine the social, emotional, as well as internal and external determinants that significantly impact the maternal experience. By delving into these complexities, we’ll gain valuable insights, strategies, and practical tools to help meaningfully support clients and families around Matrescence across all stages of life.

 

Christina Muller, LCSW, is a licensed clinician in NY, NJ, and CT with a deep passion for maternal mental health and the transformative experience of matrescence. She has advanced her expertise through postgraduate training at the Selini Institute, gaining a nuanced understanding of maternal mental health and enriching her perspective as a mother. With a strong background in community mental health and Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), Christina has worked extensively with parents throughout the lifespan. She has served as a psychotherapist, clinical advisor, EAP consultant, on-site college counselor, instructor, and guest lecturer, including a recent lecture at Weill Cornell Cope NYP to PhD and masters-level clinicians on matrescence. Currently, she finds joy in dedicating time to her family and friends, actively volunteering in her community, and contributing her insights to a motherhood cooperative and now, CEYOU!
