CE You! welcomes Valerie Kuykendall-Rogers, LPC for a special Webinar as we take a deeper look into Attachment Theory. Participants will gain insight surrounding how to define and recognize symptoms of Wounded Attachment, how Wounded Attachment develops, impacting clients’ ability to form healthy relationships, as well as methods, strategies and approaches to work with clients suffering from Wounded Attachment.

Valerie Kuykendall-Rogers is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in Houston, TX. She has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years. Valerie maintains a private practice Ascent Psychotherapy Center, and has supervised both interns and graduate students. Valerie is also currently supervising an LPC-Intern. Valerie earned her master’s degree in Community Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Chicago in 1995. Valerie specializes in helping adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse have healthy relationships. Valerie focuses on the impact of childhood sexual abuse and has witnessed how much it disrupts their ability to form healthy relationships, including personal, professional, and familial. To that end, Valerie conducts individual and couples therapy with adolescents and adults. Valerie’s approach is integrative, using a blend of evidenced-based practices such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), Existential psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and solution-focused therapy (SFT). Valerie also ascribes to a transpersonal approach as she interprets and understands sexual trauma to impact the entire being (body, mind, and spirit). In addition to her practice and supervising interns, Valerie started a consulting business, A.P.E.X., LLC, to help other mental health professionals seeking to start their own private practice learn the “business” side of running a private practice. Valerie has facilitated workshops and webinars with other service professionals that can provide invaluable information suitable to the unique needs of mental health entrepreneurs. Valerie has also served as a presenter at the Texas Counseling Association Professional Growth Conference held in Galveston, TX in 2017; created, organized, and implemented the first-ever Mental Health Professionals Business Expo in 2017; and presented a marketing webinar entitled Successfully Navigating the Insurance Credentialing Process for GoodTherapy in October 2018. Valerie’s private practice, Ascent Psychotherapy Center, was recently featured as a major contributor with promotional consideration to the television show Face the Truth, during an episode aired on October 8, 2018. When Valerie is not spending spare time with her family, she is a self-professed “foodie” as she enjoys the art of crafting diverse culinary cuisine.
