Join Dr. Tim Victorella as we review the foundational principles of trauma-informed care (TIC) and how these principles can impact daily clinical practice by informing a practitioner’s ethical imperative to avoid client re-traumatization. Ethical considerations will be reviewed to examine the interplay of policy and systemic issues which may lead to conflict when seeking to implement measures designed to cultivate a TIC environment. There will be further discussion of how to balance working within a system that is not trauma-informed and the ethical obligations of being aware of your own trauma and resulting countertransference. We will also evaluate best practices for building a TIC organization and gain knowledge of tools to have awareness of and lower re-traumatization
