Where might Social Workers and Accountants find common ground? Ask forensic accountant and Long Term Care Ombudsman Rani Gupta, CPA!
Rani shares her unique insights showing us how a review of the books can reveal much more than just numbers. Participants will review financial abuse risk factors for seniors and other vulnerable populations, enhance awareness skills and tools for preventing financial abuse and exploitation, and gain a deeper understanding of warning signs that may prompt referrals to adult protective agencies.

Rani Gupta, CPA is a Forensic Accountant and New York State Certified Long-Term Care Ombudsman. With nearly 30 years as an agent with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) specializing in audits of large corporations, Ms. Gupta also served as an investigation specialist in Anti-Money Laundering in complex Money Services Businesses. Now retired from the IRS, Ms. Gupta currently works as a private consultant, specializing in the investigation of Elder Financial Abuse and Exploitation.
With an avid commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable and underserved individuals, Ms. Gupta also puts her investigative skills to work as a Long Term Care Ombudsman, where she serves as eyes and ears, observing the treatment of residents in the Long Term Care system, giving voice to their concerns. She also volunteers her time through Lifespan driving elderly individuals to doctor appointments in her community, which she finds especially meaningful.
Ms. Gupta is thrilled to share her knowledge and insight with Social Work and Mental Health professions, and promises there will be no math tests!
