Feeling Small to Standing Tall: A Journey Through the Complexity of Bullying Behaviors

Presenter: Sarah Gugluizza, LCSW
Clinical Social Worker Sarah Gugluizza, LCSW uncovers the layers of emotion and often misunderstood motivations beneath the surface of bullying. Sarah will share her expansive background of experience working with children and adolescents, to help practitioners gain a deeper perspective of bullying that may be presenting as a defense mechanism, warning signs that may indicate victimization, settings that may allow or hinder bullying, as well as common misconceptions surrounding bullying. This workshop is also a wonderful compliment to Sarah’s webinar, “Sticks and Stones: A Frank Discussion of Bullying, Root Causes, and Crucial Intervention” and attendees are welcome to join both programs.
Sarah Gugluizza, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing mental health treatment in a private practice setting that is collaborative, supportive and personalized to each client. She received her Masters Degree (MSW) from New York University and has been working clinically with children and adults ever since graduating in 2008. She has spent her career working in many clinically diverse settings, which have given her a wealth of experience toward providing treatment to children, adolescents and their families in psychoeducational, psychiatric, and behavioral capacities. Sarah has run two clinics at Coney Island Hospital’s School-Based Mental Health Program; served as social worker for the In-Patient Pediatric Psychiatric Unit at Elmhurst Hospital Center; was a primary therapist in the Intensive Day Treatment Program at New York City Children’s Center and most recently was an Early Childhood Social Worker in the Division of Early Childhood of the New York City Department of Education. Sarah is certified as a Child and Family Therapist from NYU School of Social Work. Her clients have presented with emerging and persistent mental illness, histories of severe trauma, neurodevelopmental delays, learning disabilities, spectrum disorders, behavioral issues, substance abuse issues, and LGBTQ concerns. She has run many groups for children including social skill building, anger management, storytelling, ADHD, and teen support. CE You Welcomes Kori Grillo, LCSW as we delve into the riveting and complex nuances of Emotional Intelligence. Participants will review contemporary research and viewpoints, gain insight surrounding the foundation of Emotional Intelligence, and learn ways to identify and cultivate Emotional Intelligence to help promote client growth and understanding and communication.
Kori Grillo is a LCSW, Certified Health Coach and registered Yoga teacher who serves as Corporate Health and Leadership Development coach throughout the New York City area. Her company, Muse Concierge Coaching, assists individuals and companies in achieving their goals both personally and professionally.

Presenter: Miriam Malowitzky, MA, LMSW
Join Psychology professor and Social Worker Miriam Malowitzky as we take a closer look at the history, methodology, and effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and its role in the therapeutic process. Participants will gain enhanced understanding of the thought based context and process surrounding CBT, as well as CBT centered tools and applications, heightening skills for many Social Work practice areas. (Trainer: Miriam Malowitzky has been working in the mental health field for almost twenty years. She holds both a Master’s in School Psychology as well as a license in Social Work.)
